Gardeners, newbies and seasoned, will find plenty of tips this Saturday for making their veggie garden grow.
This sunny weather has me itching to be outside, soaking up those rays. And with the ground all nice and moist from these recent rains, it’s the perfect time to start putting together the vegetable garden for the upcoming season. Growing your own food is a great way to avoid the raising costs of produce in the supermarket, and it just tastes better when it’s that fresh. But if you’re like me, you’re a newbie at this whole gardening business.
Thankfully, Friedman’s Home Improvement is way ahead of us in this department. They’ve heeded the call by putting together a Vegetable Gardening Clinic at all three of their locations on Saturday April 9th at 11am. Their Xpert Advisors™ & Factory Reps will be demonstrating and answering questions about how to grow a gorgeous garden to feed your family throughout the seasons. Those who attend the clinic will receive a free pair of leather gloves and a 4 lb box of Whitney Farms Tomato & Vegetable Food (until they run out, of course). And should you find yourself inspired enough to shop for your garden, you’ll receive a 15% discount coupon for Saturday only.
If you haven’t already discovered it, Friedman’s Home Improvement is actually a prime place to gather all your gardening needs. Here are just a few of the items you can find there (prices good for this weekend):
Fruits and Veggies
Tomato cages 42”x14”(assorted colors!) $7.99
3.5” Herbs (snip a bit for your dinner creation that night) 2 for $3
3.5” Veggies (a whole produce section right in your backyard) $1.29
Assorted Dwarf Citrus Trees (Lemon, orange, lime…that’s a lot of summer spritzers to be made) $22.97
For the Birds
16oz Magnolia Hummingbird Feeder $8.99
4lb Nyjer Seed $7.99
Select Bird Suet .99/per container
Flowers
Lavender (great for full sun areas) $4.99
Buddlea (known for attracting butterflies) $5.98
Plus patio sets, irrigation filters, bee traps, barbecues, solar lights….you get the point. Obviously, it’s just time to get in the SPRING of things.
